Vivo at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 uncovered the world’s first smartphone to don an in-display fingerprint sensor provided by Synaptics. According to company’s officials, the smartphone is ready for production and will be available in the respective markets very soon. The in-display fingerprint sensor is a technology which has been long awaited to arrive as smartphone manufactures bring out edge-to-edge displays.
However, the concept phone which was showcased by Vivo at last year’s MWC with an in-display fingerprint sensor provided by Qualcomm wasn’t as responsive as it would have admired. Aside from the highlight in-display fingerprint sensor, nothing else is known about the phone, as of now. Hence, we have to wait till we approach its official launch. With this announcement, the in-display fingerprint sensor is now official and I expect more companies to use the technology in order to improve the overall built and the displays of our future smartphones.
