The most common ailment that affects most of the people during the period of seasonal variation is Common Cold.

Common cold is caused due to virus or I should say over 200 different viruses, to be specific. And unfortunately, we have no medicinal treatment of common cold.

So what actually happens when the cold catches us: These viri attach themselves with the mucous membrane of the nose and throat. And when our body try to fight against them, various symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, sore throat and mild fatigue appear.

As there is no medicine to cure it. So what can we do to help ourselves?

Here are the various home remedies that aim to boost our immune system to fight against the virus and the symptoms.

  •  Drink plenty of fluids.

    It makes our throat moist and keeps us hydrated.
    So, what to drink? Here’s a list:

    • Ginger Tea
      Ginger contains anti-inflammatory properties, which help in expelling mucus out the respiratory tract and also control its production.
    • Honey and Brandy
      Brandy is used as a tonic to children during cold and cough, as it keeps the chest warm and increases the body heat.
    • Milk with turmeric (Haldi wala dudh)
      Age old magic of Haldi wala dudh is the popular and effective way to fight against the virus.
    • Water
      Drinking lukewarm water reduces inflammation of the throat and flushes out the infection out of our body.
  • Gargle Power

    Add salt and a pinch of turmeric to the warm water and then do gargle twice a day to make the throat better.
